Malcapuya Island: Coron, Palawan

During our second day of island hopping in Coron, we sailed to Malcapuya Island located about an hour and a half away from the main town. We arrived there at around 10:00 AM giving us more than enough time to explore the island. My favorite part, aside from the long stretch of shoreline covered with fine white sands, was the viewing deck perched atop a 50-foot hill, wherein you’ll see the surrounding view of the island.

After swimming, we rested there for more than an hour just regaling at the view of the blue sea. It was the kind of place that reminds you the bounteous beauty of our country. While the view from Malcapuya island only represent a part of the Philippines.

I know that this kind of place exists all over our archipelago, which in turn lights up my desire to do further travelling in the near future. But right then and there, we seem to have the whole of Malcapuya Island for ourselves. I’ve nothing else to worry but enjoy the passing moments.

The place is inhabited by caretakers as I understand that it is a private island owned by some lucky bastard. If I win myself a huge lottery jackpot, I'd be buying myself my own island as well.

How I wish we could set up camp and spend a night on the island. Since, we're just there for a day trip, I just made the most of our time practicing my little free diving skills. Using the snorkeling gear we rented, I was able to see colorful corals under the crystal clear waters.

I can’t say anything bad about the place really, except maybe it has no wi-fi internet haha. Everything was just perfect.

Who said something about coming back to this place? I guess that would be me. As I write this back in the real world, the big city, traffic, going to work 5 days a week, the normal problems that I encounter every day, I am glad that knowing that in the near future I’d reward myself with something with another memorable experience in a place like Malcapuya Island. Nothing inspires me more.
