Travel Notes

Highland Climate: The mountainous regions of Kapatagan and Bansalan boast a significantly cooler, mist-kissed climate compared to the coastal heat of Davao City. Bring a light jacket or sweater, especially for early mornings and late afternoons spent at the resorts or berry farms.

Cultural Etiquette: Davao del Sur is a living sanctuary for indigenous heritage. When visiting the ancestral domains of the Bagobo-Tagabawa and B'laan communities, approach their traditions, dances, and chants with high respect. Always ask for permission before taking close-up photographs of their intricate garments or beadwork.

Highlights: Witnessing the Inabal weaving techniques established by GAMABA awardee Salinta Monon, tasting the bizarrely accurate Peanut Butter fruit at Lao Integrated Farm, and ziplining with the view of the peak of Mount Apo are deeply memorable experiences.

Sustainable Support: The local farms here, from the BACOFA coffee collective to the organic demo sites, directly support and educate the indigenous youth. Purchasing locally roasted coffee beans and handwoven textiles directly empowers these highland communities and helps keep their rich heritage alive.
