Take an overnight sleeper bus or train to Sapa. Recommended: Sleeper bus for convenience and lower cost. Travel time: around 5–6 hours. Overnight transit.
Day Three
Sapa Trekking & Mountain Villages

Trek through: Cat Cat Village, Lao Chai Village, Ta Van Village. These villages offer encounters with Hmong and Dao communities, terraced landscapes and mountain scenery.

Evening
Enjoy the chilly mountain atmosphere and local barbecue stalls in Sapa town. Overnight in Sapa.
Day Four
Morning in Sapa + Return to Hanoi
Morning
Relaxed morning in Sapa: Coffee with mountain views, explore the local market, optional short trek or photography walk.
Afternoon
Return to Hanoi via sleeper bus or limousine van. Arrive in Hanoi by evening.
Evening Suggestions
Rooftop café hopping. Beer street at Ta Hien Street. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day Five
Halong Bay Day Trip

Morning
Depart Hanoi early (usually around 7:00–8:00 AM) for a full-day cruise in Halong Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its limestone karsts rising dramatically from emerald waters.
Typical Day Cruise Includes
Scenic cruise through limestone islands. Visit to caves such as Sung Sot Cave. Kayaking or bamboo boat ride. Seafood lunch onboard. Viewpoints and island stops. Return to Hanoi around evening.
Late Night Departure
Flight Departure: 1:00 AM from Hanoi. Since your flight is very early morning: Consider booking a hotel day-use room or arranging late checkout on day 5. Leave for Noi Bai International Airport around 9:30–10:00 PM depending on traffic and airline check-in requirements.
Travel Notes
Distances: Northern Vietnam covers diverse terrain. Expect 5–6 hours between Hanoi and Sapa, and 2.5–3 hours from Hanoi to Ha Long Bay.
Weather: Sapa and Ha Long Bay are weather-dependent. Fog can obscure mountain views and rough seas can affect cruise schedules; always maintain a flexible mindset.
Pacing: This itinerary is fast-paced. For a more sustainable rhythm, consider adding an overnight stay on a Ha Long Bay cruise or an extra night in Sapa.
