By the tail end of an 11-day writing assignment across Palawan, my body had begun keeping its own itinerary. We had traveled from Bataraza and Brooke’s Point to Aborlan, Quezon and Puerto Princesa, then north to El Nido, with Coron still waiting at the other end. By the time I arrived at Seda Lio, I was no longer looking for another attraction to photograph or another road to explore. A Beachfront Pause in El Nido
The setting helps. The resort sits directly along Lio Beach, with the Lio Tourism Estate’s restaurants, shops and other establishments within walking distance. El Nido Airport is barely a kilometer away, close enough that I could watch planes descend in the morning. Beyond the beach, the limestone islands of Bacuit Bay form the familiar El Nido backdrop.
The resort’s location is one of its practical advantages. It gives you a beachfront setting without putting you too far from the airport, while the surrounding Lio Tourism Estate provides places to eat and wander without having to make the trip into El Nido town every time you want to leave the property. Seda Lio is also described as being within walking distance of Shops @ Lio and Kalye Artisano. But what I appreciated most was the space.
After more than a week spent moving from one destination to another, having somewhere I could simply walk without needing to go anywhere felt like a luxury in itself. There was the beach for a late stroll, the pool for an afternoon swim and enough room around the property to slow my pace down.
Island-Hopping by Day, Pool Time by Afternoon
Returning from island-hopping excursions on a speedboat arranged by Seda Lio, I would head straight for the pool in the afternoon. The contrast was welcome: hours spent bouncing across the water and moving between islands gave way to a chill swim before dinner. It became an unplanned ritual during my three-night stay.
There was something satisfying about returning from the sea with salt still on my skin, knowing I didn't have to leave the property again. I could swim a few laps, find a place to sit and let the day finally come down.
Dining at Seda Lio
The evenings were just as easy. I had dinner by the beach with fellow writer Ria, and for a moment, with the sea beside us and dinner stretched out in front of us, we almost looked like a couple on vacation. We quickly returned to what we actually are: two good friends who happen to be on a travel writing assignment.
Still, there was something about the setting that made the moment feel different. The beach, the evening air and the vibe created the sort of scene that could easily be mistaken for a romantic getaway, even when the people at the table were simply good friends catching up after days on the road.
Another evening was spent at Misto Restaurant with Ashley, the lovely tour coordinator who had accompanied us throughout the trip. By then, we had spent days moving around Palawan together, so dinner felt nothing like another scheduled activity and more like a chance to finally sit down and talk.
At Misto, I had the lechon, which stood out for its juicy meat and crisp, crackling skin. Breakfast was much like what you’d expect at a good hotel or resort, but I appreciated the wide variety of dishes and fresh fruits to choose from. The beachfront dinner with Ria, meanwhile, was a combination of the four-course meal and the setting.
Seda Lio Suite: My Room Experience
I stayed in a Suite Room with Pool View. The suite is listed at 76 square meters, considerably more space than a standard hotel room, and comes with a balcony, receiving area, workstation desk, bathtub, coffee machine, minibar and Wi-Fi.
What I noticed first was the room’s sense of separation. That laptop workspace area quickly became my favorite corner. Having an actual desk rather than balancing a laptop on the bed made a difference. It felt like a small office tucked inside the room.
The bathtub became my favorite refuge, a welcome antidote to days spent on the move. The suite’s generous space was perhaps its greatest luxury.

For travelers choosing a resort largely for what they can do without leaving it, Seda Lio has enough facilities to fill a slow day. The property has an outdoor swimming pool, fitness center, spa and children's facilities, alongside direct beach access.

For three nights, that became my routine: island-hopping by day, a swim in the afternoon, dinner by the water and, finally, the luxury of having nowhere else to be.
