Nomadic Experiences in Print

When I started this travel blog about three years ago, I just considered it as a chance to branch out from my nonsense writings on my personal blog. I was not even traveling much at that time other than the normal summer excursions to provinces located within a 3-4 hour radius of Metro Manila. However, along the way I've become more and more fascinated with the idea of traveling as I recount how it all started on this blog's "About Me" page. Anyway, other than the two to three folds increase on the numbers of my travels around the Philippines, other rewards and opportunities soon followed - one of which was the chance to contribute an article for a local travel magazine.

The image above was my very first article published in the anniversary issue of Republic of 7107 Island Travel Magazine which was released to the newstands on Dec-Jan. 2010. It was about Capones island in Zambales that has a majestic lighthouse built during the Spanish era which where me and my friends Lot and Kristina traveled to during the summer of 2009.

After that I had the opportunity again to write for the same magazine after a few issues and this time I wrote about my experiences of riding the wild waters of Cagayan de Oro river last January 2010 - when me and Kristina celebrated our birthday (we were both born on Jan.15) at Lot's hometown of CDO.

That article appeared on this issue also in 2010.

My third article for the same magazine was about Calaguas Island which I traveled to during the Holy Week of 2010.

That one made this issue which came out in late 2010.

Here is a sample screenshot of my brief profile in the contributor's page. It's a bit weird seeing myself in print but it's something I always wanted to do, which is to write for a magazine, especially a TRAVEL magazine.

my bio on my 1st article. I've since gotten a B- Lakbayan grade :)
Here is the article I wrote about Lake Sebu which came out on the September (Quarterly Issue) of Republic of 7107 Island Travel Magazine.

On the January - March issue of Susan Calo Medina's Travel Time Magazine, a photograph of mine of the Sto Niño taken during the Sinulog Festival was among featured on an article. It was displayed on a full page spread.

This month also (March 2012) my fifth article published in Republic of 7107 Island Travel Magazine also came out. It was about the Ati-Atihan festival in Kalibo, Aklan.

- On the April-June issue of Susan Calo Medina's Travel Time Magazine, my article about the Feast of La Inmaculada Concepcion de Malabon is included. It's such an awesome thing to contribute to the magazine founded by Susan Calo Medina whom I've grown up watching on TV, as she travels all over the Philippines.

On the August Issue of Gala Philippines Magazine,  I wrote a short article about Puerto Princesa's Underground River.

Inside the Oct-Dec issue of Republic of 7107 Island Travel Magazine my 8-page article about Romblon is featured, making it - okay I'll stop counting, because I'm hoping for more published articles in the future.

And on the latest issue of Gala Magazine (Feb-March 2013), with none other than the "man" himself, Ramon Bautista on the cover, I wrote an article about the Hot Air Balloon Festival happening in Clark this month.

Again, for the seventh time (tenth over-all) another article of mine came out in the pages of Republic of 7107 Island Travel Magazine in its Issue 3/Volume 4 (February 2013). I wrote about the Golden Mosque in Cotabato City and Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat as part of the 7 Most Daring Destinations feature of the magazine, along with other writers and travelers who recently visited the not so well-known tourist places in Mindanao.

My eleventh published article came out in the April 2013 issue of Gala Magazine (with Lovi Poe on the cover). It was a short piece on what to do and where to go in the province of Cebu.

Who knows, a "Rolling Stones" writing gig might fall into my lap hehe but that's stretching the dream. I'd be delighted in whatever comes my way - coupled with the chance to travel it will always be a major bonus.
