Nomadic Video 7: Yogyakarta

I could not wait to start writing about my trip to Yogyakarta, but a lack of time and too much procrastination in between disallowed me from diving straight in. However, I was able to put together, in a hurried state, a music video of the random footage I had taken while walking around that interesting city and visiting the temple complexes of both Borobudur and Prambanan. As a preview of my future blog posts about that journey of mine, here it was with The Byrds' "Turn! Turn! Turn!" serving as the soundtrack.

Nomadic Video #7: Yogyakarta | Indonesia

By Marky Ramone Go November 2013

A Cinematic Glimpse of Yogyakarta

Best viewed in 1080p High Definition.

The footage captured the raw, unedited transitions between the bustling urban centers of Java and the quiet, monumental majesty of the ancient ruins. Watching it back brought back the immediate sensation of the humid air, the local street music, and the visual weight of the historic landscapes.

Soundtracks and Cameos

The choice of using classic folk-rock rhythms underscored the timeless quality of the structures I explored. It felt fitting to pair an anthem of changing seasons with locations that had witnessed centuries of dynastic transformations.

Cameo Appearances: Tania Gonzales and Carmel So

The brief inclusions of the accidental travel buddies I crossed paths with along the transit lines highlighted the spontaneous human connections that always define the best components of backpacking solo across Southeast Asia.
