In my case, could I just drink tea here for a few mornings while I sit by the pool and stare out at the sea? Such was the cozy environment of Bahay Bakasyunan sa Camiguin (BBC), and it's a great thing Cebu Pacific had us accommodated here during the Blogger's Tour of Camiguin. The last time I visited Camiguin was in 2010, and we just rode a jeepney across the island for the entire day.
Bahay Bakasyunan sa Camiguin: A Cozy Island Retreat
This time, I was able to stretch my tired legs while having a calming massage at its in-house Cabana spa after a long day of exploring the island. BBC is made up mostly of tropical materials like bamboo, helping it retain that authentic island feel. I also noticed how the post-modern interiors mesh incredibly well with the local architectural designs. The prime location, facing the calm waters of the Bohol Sea, makes this a fine, secluded base for those wanting privacy.
Digital Nomads and Relaxation
After our activities during the first day, the 'digital nomads' of the group—Lois, Ferdz, and James—just hung out by the bar near the pool and worked on their laptops. Meanwhile, I took a quick nap in the hammock, falling asleep to the sound of the waves and the breezy wind.
You could comfortably walk around barefoot and rub your feet on the well-maintained lawn grass, or sweat it out at the gym. It is one of those places that registers in my mind as a definite place to stay the next time I visit Camiguin with a girlfriend... yey!
Bahay Kubo-Inspired Cottages
The cottages were inspired by the traditional "Bahay Kubo" and reintroduce the concept through a sturdier structure fitted with modern basic amenities like a hot shower, air-conditioning, a work desk, and satellite TV. The high ceilings of each cottage create a more spacious room, ensuring one doesn't feel cramped inside.
A veranda on each native cottage provides ample space for a group of friends to hang out, significantly adding to the overall satisfying ambiance of the property. It's too bad we only stayed here for a couple of nights, but I was glad at the same time to see such a well-thought-out and planned resort that showcases local architecture beautifully balanced with the natural environment of the island.
