Vodka-tion at Hotel 878 in Libis Quezon City

Finding a place to stay in Metro Manila sometimes becomes a challenge especially for the budget conscious traveler. However, if you know where to look you will probably come across this small boutique hotel near the heart of Eastwood City in Libis, Quezon City. It was a toxic month work-wise when I stayed here for the weekend with my friend Cher. With nothing else to do but to down the tall bottle of vodka she bought, we holed up inside our cozy two-level loft, with the intention of achieving a massive hangover the next day.

Cher asked me why the name "Hotel 878" as it seems like straight out of a horror movie. A little check with the hotel's brochure gave me an interesting explanation. "Our hotel is simply called Hotel 878 because our address is 878 E. Rodriguez Jr. Avenue.  According to our friendly feng shui consultant,  "878" is considered  a very auspicious number in the Chinese calendar. Hence, it was decided it was best to name the hotel after its own address."

I like the 2 level loft we stayed at, just like what most condominium design nowadays it maximizes the use of space, the ground floor provide just enough space to hang out and do some a bit of work while the upper level with a double-sized bed is cozy to lie down and watch your favorite series on a wall mounted wide screen TV.

"Hotel 878 has been operating since 2011 and, to date, has attracted a loyal following of regular guests who have opted to make the hotel their home in the metro. Fact is, long-staying guests here are so common that Hotel 878 is offering long-staying rates for those staying a minimum of one week.  Currently, PROMOTIONS featuring special weekend and weekdays discounted rates are also available."

As a traveler who promotes tourism in the Philippines, I appreciate such establishments like Hotel 878 in providing and increasing the quality of service in the hospitality industry, as these are the ones, especially  what foreign travelers and expatriates, will notice first upon arrival here. Anything is miniature at Hotel 878 including the in house Cafe 878 which is fine with me as it provides a more homey feel to the place.

The next day we awoke with well rested bodies but without the hangover. Our attempt at getting drunk became a weekend of just lounging around, exchanging stories and stuff that can't be written here :P.
